About Us

Many animals have been rescued from appalling situations.  We picked up 29 cats from a drug addicts house, and large numbers of animals have been removed from various cupboards, sheds and short chains.

We've pulled numerous animals from canals and we've picked up ducks who'd been stoned and others who'd been shot, and we've treated swans & cygnets, usually suffering from botulism or else dreadful injuries inflicted by discarded fishing line.

Our five key areas of activity are:

  • Operating a subsidised spaying and neutering scheme.
  • Rescuing and re-homing a wide variety of animals.
  • Educating members of the public in the kind and effective care of animals.
  • Supplying free engraved discs.
  • Organising veterinary treatment.

We Have:

  • Opened four branches.

  • Re-homed over 5,300 animals.

  • Built stables for donkeys and ex-pit ponies.

  • Distributed over three quarters of a million items of pet food.

  • Supplied more than 17,000 free engraved discs.

  • Given numerous educational talks on animal welfare.

  • Supported 63 other rescue groups/charities with practical/financial help.

  • Wormed and inoculated thousands of animals - many for the first time in their lives!

  • Stepped in to ensure food, safety and new homes for 97 Urban Farm animals when their owner went bust.

  • Spayed/neutered more than 19,000 (mainly) dogs and cats - which has prevented thousands of unwanted animals from being born into a largely uncaring world.

The majority of animals that come into our care arrive in a poor state.  Our reward is seeing those same animals go to their new home a few weeks later: well fed, groomed, wormed, inoculated and neutered.
