This is DAVE. He is about three years old and we were asked to rehome him. When we arrived to pick him up he was wearing this lovely red coat and looked absolutely adorable.

Unfortunately, reality struck the moment we started to take off his coat ....!


	DAVE'S skin was in such a bad condition that he had been scratching himself to pieces and had (apparently) not been taken to the vets for TWO years. Instead of taking DAVE to a foster home, we took him straight to the vets where he was given antibiotics, steroids, skin cream, special shampoo and had his nails clipped.

When the vet saw DAVE he said:-

"If it had been anyone other than "Friends of the Animals" this dog would of been put to sleep".

DAVE will need 24 hour care and attention, not to mention weekly check ups and some ongoing and costly treatment, before we can even think of finding him a special home.

POLLY is a four year old that her owners have had from a puppy and had obtained via the internet.

Almost immediately on arrival, POLLY started to fit. Everyone seemed to think that she was suffering from Epilepsy but a specialist vet in Bristol was able to diagnose that in fact POLLY had a defective valve in her liver.

Fortunately, the condition is treatable and now with the help of Friends of the Animals POLLY's owners have a healthy and happy dog whom they adore.
