 THANKYOUP

This is SHORTY.

Sadly, Shorty's previous owner was in his 90s and developed Alzheimers and was unable to look after him.

Shorty, therefore, did not go out and was a very timid dog. NOT any more. He gets plenty of exercise and is really developing a personality of his own.

This is PATCH

This is a little Jack Russell cross that landed on all four paws. His new home say he has a single bed to himself ........ because he prefers it to his basket !!

This is DEXTER.

Dexter is deaf and needed a very special and understanding home. He has definitely found it with Pam and Geoffrey. He now enjoys lots of walks and tummy rubs - as you can see.

This WAS BEN                                              This IS BEN now

Ben was in a "real state" when he came into the Charity's care. After several weeks of vets visits and nearly two months in foster care, he's in a loving new home with Joyce. Ben suffers from Cushings disease and the Charity will continue to help with the cost of his treatment.

This is Molly. She is an eight month old Lurcher cross now happily settled in her new home with Mandy and all the family.

She will now receive plenty of exercise across the downs and use up some of that pent up energy.

This little Jack Russell Cross bitch was kept in someone's shed. She never went out, wasn't cared for and had no life - until we came along that is. Now, as you can see, she lives the life of Riley and is "Captain" of the Canal Barge she visits most weekend

This is LUCKY

Regular visitors to our web pages will have seen that LUCKY had not been very (lucky). No One wanted him but we always knew that he would find the PERFECT home and all that was needed was time and patience.

Then along came Pete and Pat and everyone lives happily ever after.

 This is LAD and MISSY

Remember these two from our rehoming pages?

After a HUGE response, we finally found the perfect home. Here we have them "sun bathing" together in their new garden.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our appeal for these two little urchins.

This is MIsty.

MISTY was (sadly) dumped by her former owners at DJ 's Kennels who reacted wonderfully and asked for our help to rehome her.

Here she is with her new owner Marion. Good things do happen!!

This is SADIE.

Sadie's original owner sadly passed away whilst SADIE was in Kennels in the Midlands. The Kennels contacted Friends of the Animals" and we found her a wonderful new home with Richard and Anne on the Isle of Wight.

Plenty of exercise and love have turned Sadie into a very fit, healthy and loving dog.

This is LADY. Her original owner had to sadly go into hospital.

Friends of the Animals fostered her for a while but when the hospital became a retirement home, Lady was in desperate need of a caring new start. Where better than her foster mom JEAN and so it turned out.

Jean now has a lovely new friend .. so does Lady.

This is MEL. Another example of how to rehome an older dog ....

She is Twelve years old, and could barely walk when she first came to us. After a visit to the vets and lots of TLC from her new owners MEL has the joy of plenty of walks and a comfy bed when she gets home!

LADY AND LARA are two more of our many many successes.

LARA (on the left) is totally deaf and is actually featured on our DVD (jumping out of her owners' boat) and LADY was unwanted - until now. Both now have the perfect life with  wonderful couples.

This is MOZ - that is the big brown one is MOZ, the human is Damien and the little'un is BOO.

Friends of the Animals came to the rescue of MOZ and, as you can see, he has settled in nicely

"Butter wouldn't melt ........."

JACK was (is) a little ball of energy and has his own "characteristics" ........!

Now he is with Richard, Celia Emily, Jack and Kloe (the human family) and Molly his new four legged friend.

JESS tested us just a bit. She was very hyper-active and needed a good firm hand and lots of exercise. Robin and Margaret were "just what the doctor ordered" and now all three are happy together.

FREDDIE and his new best friend Brian.

Friends of the Animals found Freddie a new home just over a year ago and as you can see, he never looked back.

He was apparently a bit of a handful - Freddie that is - but you wouldn't think so now!

BOO (now MOLLY) had become a very nervous and anxious dog and needed a different environment. We found her a new home where she's walked FOUR times a day and is loved to bits.

MOLLY, formally ALEX.

One of our many success stories. After months of uncertainty, we found her a once and forever home with Andrea and Graham

This is (another) Barney - the Beagle.

Barney was originally a purchased "item" from a local paper. Unfortunately the new owner's dog and he did not get on.

We saw things differently and found him the right home with the right company - Colin and his whole family.

This is Barney.

We're not quite sure who's happier ..... Barney or his new permanent friends Liz Green and her son!

We won't need to look elsewhere for a home for this little soul.

DILLON

Dillon was an unwanted TWELVE year old!

Thanks to Friends of the Animals he now has a happy retirement with Robert and Shirley.

Thank you both for taking on this lovely dog.

This is SAM.

He has suffered badly following immersion in a caustic liquid.

He is virtually blind and needed a VERY special home - which is what he has got with ZOE.

He now runs over the local beach and park and is getting used to a large garden and plenty of affection.

This is LEO and CASS with ELLA SNOW & Daughter

LEO and CASS needed to be re-homed after their owner went into a nursing home. After several weeks of foster care ELLA and her husband (IVAN) took both dogs on and has given them a wonderful new life.

This is WENDY and CASEY (formally PIP)

CASEY was kept in a shed and was terribly nervous of people, traffic and everything. When we got her, she didn't even want to go for a walk!

WENDY handled the dog perfectly and has really brought out the best of a lovely dog. Both are very happy and, as you can see, CASEY is living the good life and has a (dog) friend FIN and mixes with several cats too!

This is SPICE.

Spice and his owner were recently evicted and ended up living in a tent.

Full credit to his (then) owner who contacted us for assistance and we were able to move Spice into a temporary foster home prior to looking for a permanent home.

Within a very short space of time, Geoff (pictured) came to us wanting a dog. This turned out to be a perfect match as Geoff works in forests all day long and, guess what, Spice goes to!

I bet Spice has a great time every day.

This is BELLA. Her pensioner owner had a serious fall and broke her own arm, but worse still, she fell on BELLA and as a result BELLA suffered serious ligament damage to her back rear leg. To compound the problems, the owner could not drive and was not financially well off. Fortunately she contacted us for help. Dave, one of our team of drivers has been able to take BELLA to and from the vets and after much treatment, including Xrays, anti inflamatories etc etc, BELLA is on the mend - as is her owner.

ALFIE.

Previous visitors to our site, only days ago will recall ALFIE being available to rehome. Well, I have to say how sorry we are if anyone else wants him, ..... because as you can see, this is another of our success stories.

The right dog with the right person.

I will quote from an email received regarding these two munches:-

"When they came into (Bearwood) they were saturated as if they'd been sitting in dirty litter trays for weeks and the smell overpowered the whole shop. They are long haired so their tails and back ends were dirty and matted. They have now been cleaned and bathed and Becky (1) has arranged a new home for them."

Very well done to Becky (1) and absolute shame on the family that abandoned their pets in such a state.

SEVEN years ago Sylvia was looking for an older dog to care for.

She found Gwen, who has been a real friend and by her side ever since.

This is another very simple story of putting the right owner with the right dog and for everyone to be happy.

Thank you Sylvia

OSCAR and JOAN, a pair made in heaven.

People keep telling us its hard to home older dogs isn't it?       NO, NO, NO.

We don't know where this idea comes from but it really is the mantra of the half hearted and the "easy way out" team.

Oscar was twelve years old and needed a new home, Joan wanted an older big dog - et voila - BINGO. Lets put the two together and we did.

Both have now got exactly what they want and both are very happy.

"I think I'm going to like it here ....."

Pippin is another dog that won't be moving again. This Bichon has the right home with the right person at the right time.

AND she will be a globe trotter with her new pet passport. Roll on the rest of the world!

BELLE. No one bothered to tell BELLE that she was disabled ...... and she doesn't care. This little Jack Russell found the perfect home through Friends of the Animals with Eileen. Loved to bits and truly cared for this little dog certainly "landed on her feet".

Thanks to Eileen for taking on this special dog.

We think "LOU" has probably used up at least one of her nine lives after being run over last year. The only way to save her life was to amputate the rear leg - an operation that sadly the owner would have had trouble covering in the time available.

So, that left only one option - the Charity stepped in. Now LOU is almost back to her playful self AND, for once it is a pleasure for us to say "Thank You" to her owner for the support she now gives the charity by standing order and time spent at fund raising events so that we can, in turn  help more like LOU.     THAT'S the way to do it!

These two little kittens were dumped one day - taken into our care and rehomed within hours.

Thank you to the new owner and well done to BECKY (1) for having such a well oiled and up to date "wants list".

This is Alfie and he was rehomed by the Charity a couple of years ago. He has since gone through his "Bronze Good Citizen Award" and goes to agility training every week. He has long walks every day and is "a gentle and good mannered boy".

His two favourite things are his ball and having a cuddle......

Sounds okay to me!

This little fella is Jamie. He is a real character and - as you can see is waiting for someone to throw his ball for him. He was rehomed by the Charity a few years ago and is now part of a six dog "pack" of which he THINKS he's the boss - but the little yorkie KNOWS that in fact SHE is the boss.

Just another success for all concerned.

These little souls - the kittens that is - were left outside a church in the Midlands on a VERY cold night. Fortunately they were spotted in their cardboard box and the Charity was able to pick them up and ensure they were properly cared for.

Tis not necessarily the season of good will to ALL creatures!

Its difficult to rehome older dogs ...isn't it?  No, No, a thousand times NO. All that is needed is some effort and a co-ordinated team. ROLLY is a 15 year old Bitch that needed a new home. Within hours of getting the formal request to rehome her,  she had been driven to Portsmouth,  collected by Alan Barker one of our volunteers and was safely and snug in a new home.

These two felines had to be rehomed quickly when their owner was, unfortunately, evicted from her home.

We were asked to help and BECKY (1) was able to rehome them within hours because of her list of "wants".

If you want a pet please contact us so that your details can be added to our data base of wants. THEN, when the right pet comes along they get rehomed quickly and you get the pet that you've hoped for. I think its called WIN WIN.

These two little bundles of fluff were owned by a lovely lady and had been well cared for. Sadly the woman was diagnosed with a very virulent cancer and she was unable to keep them. She was worried for their future and wanted to be sure that they went to a good home. At Friends of the Animals we check homes very carefully, and the perfect home was found for them both with a gentleman nicknamed "Tinkerbell", a very kind and loving man.

They settled in very well and we received a lovely card from Tink at Christmas thanking us for making him so happy!
