JESSIE proves yet again that it is rarely the dog that is at fault.
She was in the hands of an addict who - when push came to shove - simply wanted to get rid of "it". Whilst attempting to instil some responsibility on the woman concerned, our concern was for Jessie.
Now, with her past behind her, this is one lovely Staffie that will have a caring and loving home.

These two (un-named) little urchins were found near a Foundary just before Christmas. They then spent the next few days being bathed several times (which they did NOT like) and being cared for by Jo (1). They are now well on the road to full integration and are currently in the safe hands of a local veterinary nurse.

PEPSI is a lovely Staffie Cross that once again has shown that the modern "label" of Staffie is unfair. She is the sweetest and loveliest of dogs that is a regular fixture now in the village where she lives. As you can see, Daphne her new "owner" has given Pepsi her own chair which she absolutely loves.

CHAZ is a 13 year old Spaniel that had to be rehomed when his owners had housing problems. No other rescue wanted to get involved with Chaz because of his age but, of course, we said yes and had NO problem matching him with Len and Sylvia. As you can see, he looks as if he'd never been anywhere else.

HOLLY spent most of her early life stuck outdoors and did not go "out" very much. To their credit, her owners realised that this was not the right way to look after Holly and approached us. It took us a WHOLE 3 days - because of our "wants list" to find the right home with Geoff and Michelle. Holly now has company all day and even catches the bus into town !

PIPPA and SALLY had to be rehomed after their owner had to have BOTH knees replaced and was no longer able to walk them. These two lovely dogs now have a forever home with Heather who walks them for hours every day. It's a shame that not all sad stories can have such a happy ending.

LADY is yet another success story. She has been in her new home for around a year now and on our regular follow up visit, it was plain to see that this little Jack Russell was a very contented dog.

DILLION proves once again that provided one is prepared to put in the effort, even older dogs can be successfully rehomed.
At 14 Dillion is still active but Rob and Shirley know that his favourite rug is still the best place to be !!

AMBER was with us longer than we would have chosen, mainly because of the reputation that Staffies have got. However, Andy, her new owner has seen through the hype and realises that this is one lovely dog.

LADY had been a little tormented and teased in her former home and needed some attention and control.
Maureen is delighted with her and will, we are sure, give Lady all the things she needs
"Hamish" - below - (and his owner) were very pleased that FRIENDS OF THE ANIMALS were able to step in and guarantee the vets bill when this little soul was attacked in the park. Hamish will recover, but it is ONLY through help from animal lovers like you that we can continue to help the Hamish's of this world. Please make a donation via PAYPAL by clicking on the link above or click here for other options on how to make a donation to help animals like Hamish.

THIS IS TREACLE.
BRADFORD to the ISLE OF WIGHT. Treacle had numerous homes - including a kennels in Bradford before he came into our care. Now, with the help of Paul and Bridgette, this little dog isn't going to be travelling around any more
THIS IS TOBY.
Poor little TOBY used to be bullied by the other two dogs he lived with and as a result spent a lot of time in a cage and got very little exercise. He became "Tubby Toby".
When he came into our care the foster home worked hard on his weight and fitness and gave him the care and attention he needed. Now, in a new loving home with Flora, TOBY, is happy, fitter and a very important member of the family.
THIS IS MUFFIN
Muffin must have felt that his life had come to an end when his original owner was taken ill and Muffin had to spend a huge amount of time in Kennels. Fortunately Friends of the Animals were able to put MUFFIN in a foster home and have now rehomed him with Jean. We think he'll be happy !

THIS IS JACK
Jack used to live in a high rise block of flats where his owner was unable to exercise him; He has just come back from the Sea side and the look is "I want to go back please with my toy !!!!!"

THIS IS LUDO.
This young man landed on his feet in a BIG way when he was teamed up with Dean. LUDO is a big softie and just loves the attention he gets in Dean's shop.
As usual it is just a matter of finding the right dog for the right person in the right situation.

THIS IS BOBBIE.
As I couldn't decide which picture showed off this little soul best, I thought we'd better put them both up.
BOBBIE was rehomed in 2004 with Lesley, who now has another rescue (Sam) - but would you like to guess who's the boss?

THIS IS BERTIE (AND JOHN!)
Bertie had to be rehomed due to the ill health of his former owner. He now lives with John, the ducks, geese and chickens where all get on well.

THIS IS CHARLIE.
Charlie was originally given to an elderly lady in poor health who found him far too much to cope with. With help from neighbours, we were asked to rehome him which we did.
Mrs McMahon has now got him under control and is putting in the necessary time to ensure that Charlie stays put !! We think he knows that he's landed on all four paws in a BIG way.

THIS IS MAGGIE (Now MADDIE)
Little sweet Maggie was (unfortunately) being left for long periods and was becoming very unhappy and a little destructive. The owners asked us to find her the right home ...... and we did, Janet and Graham.
MADDIE will not be left again and has found her permanent home.
THIS IS JAKE.
JAKE came to us in 2008 when his previous owner had a stroke. He was placed in the temporary care of Valerie, one of our fosterers but the temporary nature of the visit doe not seem to have been made apparent to either party ............... One VERY happy dog and human is the result.

THIS IS BESS.
Bess was rehomed by the Charity way back in 1999 and although she was always a "man's" dog, when Mr Parkes sadly passed away BESS became Beryl's best friend and confidant.

THIS IS (I think I'm going to stay here) MAX
Homing a dog is all about finding the right home and the right owner. That is certainly the case with MAX. He had proved difficult to house train and had had several homes before he came to us. Vince O'Hara simply used patience and won through. Now the two are inseparable.

THIS IS BEN
Ben was abandoned ! by his owner but when his new owner came into the office we managed to grab this picture before BEN took Joyce back out for another walk.
This is one happy dog!

THIS IS MIKEY
As a Lurcher cross he was not the easiest dog in the world to find a new loving home for and we certainly made a few home visits on his behalf. But then Patrick turned up and Mikey's problems ended.

THIS IS OZZIE.
Ozzie is a Lab Cross who has found a wonderful new home with Wendy, Kevin and their daughter Charlotte. This big soppy softie has become an integral part of the family.

THIS IS RUPERT AND HIS BEST FRIEND BELLA.
Frequent visitors to the site will recall that these two came into our care via New Zealand and Spain to fortunately end up with Lynne and Mike with their roaming days behind them. But with plenty of walks and love in front of them.

THIS IS LADY
Even though this picture was taken in January, we get the impression that Lady will NOT feel the cold. It looks like her new owers, Monica and Derek have everything wrapped up and under control.

THIS IS JACK.
He is THE most lovely natured PUG and we had a HUGE amount of interest in him. Unfortunately there's only one of him so we had to make a hard decision from a large number of very good homes.
Jack has finally been rehomed with Robert and Irene where it does look like he's going to be a bit spoilt!

THIS IS HUDSON
As you can see HUDSON is a high energy Springer Spaniel and unfortunately his original owners were not able to spend the necessary time with him. HOWEVER, we went the extra mile and found him the perfect home with David & Mel (and a very big bone!)

THIS IS RUBY
Ruby was within an ace of being put to sleep for no reason other than being unwanted but this alert, bright and fun loving dog now has a great new home in the Midlands

This is MURPHY
His former owner had to move away and could not take him with them. Friends of the Animals have found the perfect home where he receives lots of fuss and attention.

This is FLOSS
She wasn't wanted by her owner who simply threatened to dump the poor dog.
Their loss was Georgina and Paul's gain. Not to mention a very happy FLOSS.

This is PATCH
This is a little Jack Russell cross that landed on all four paws. His new home say he has a single bed to himself ........ because he prefers it to his basket !!
This is DEXTER.
Dexter is deaf and needed a very special and understanding home. He has definitely found it with Pam and Geoffrey. He now enjoys lots of walks and tummy rubs - as you can see.

This WAS BEN This IS BEN now
Ben was in a "real state" when he came into the Charity's care. After several weeks of vets visits and nearly two months in foster care, he's in a loving new home with Joyce. Ben suffers from Cushings disease and the Charity will continue to help with the cost of his treatment.

This is Molly. She is an eight month old Lurcher cross now happily settled in her new home with Mandy and all the family.
She will now receive plenty of exercise across the downs and use up some of that pent up energy.

This little Jack Russell Cross bitch was kept in someone's shed. She never went out, wasn't cared for and had no life - until we came along that is. Now, as you can see, she lives the life of Riley and is "Captain" of the Canal Barge she visits most weekend
This is LUCKY
Regular visitors to our web pages will have seen that LUCKY had not been very (lucky). No One wanted him but we always knew that he would find the PERFECT home and all that was needed was time and patience.
Then along came Pete and Pat and everyone lives happily ever after.
This is LAD and MISSY
Remember these two from our rehoming pages?
After a HUGE response, we finally found the perfect home. Here we have them "sun bathing" together in their new garden.
Thank you to everyone who responded to our appeal for these two little urchins.
This is MIsty.
MISTY was (sadly) dumped by her former owners at DJ 's Kennels who reacted wonderfully and asked for our help to rehome her.
Here she is with her new owner Marion. Good things do happen!!
This is SADIE.
Sadie's original owner sadly passed away whilst SADIE was in Kennels in the Midlands. The Kennels contacted Friends of the Animals" and we found her a wonderful new home with Richard and Anne on the Isle of Wight.
Plenty of exercise and love have turned Sadie into a very fit, healthy and loving dog.
This is LADY. Her original owner had to sadly go into hospital.
Friends of the Animals fostered her for a while but when the hospital became a retirement home, Lady was in desperate need of a caring new start. Where better than her foster mom JEAN and so it turned out.
Jean now has a lovely new friend .. so does Lady.
This is MEL. Another example of how to rehome an older dog ....
She is Twelve years old, and could barely walk when she first came to us. After a visit to the vets and lots of TLC from her new owners MEL has the joy of plenty of walks and a comfy bed when she gets home!
LADY AND LARA are two more of our many many successes.
LARA (on the left) is totally deaf and is actually featured on our DVD (jumping out of her owners' boat) and LADY was unwanted - until now. Both now have the perfect life with wonderful couples.

"Butter wouldn't melt ........."
JACK was (is) a little ball of energy and has his own "characteristics" ........!
Now he is with Richard, Celia Emily, Jack and Kloe (the human family) and Molly his new four legged friend.

JESS tested us just a bit. She was very hyper-active and needed a good firm hand and lots of exercise. Robin and Margaret were "just what the doctor ordered" and now all three are happy together.
FREDDIE and his new best friend Brian.
Friends of the Animals found Freddie a new home just over a year ago and as you can see, he never looked back.
He was apparently a bit of a handful - Freddie that is - but you wouldn't think so now!

BOO (now MOLLY) had become a very nervous and anxious dog and needed a different environment. We found her a new home where she's walked FOUR times a day and is loved to bits.

MOLLY, formally ALEX.
One of our many success stories. After months of uncertainty, we found her a once and forever home with Andrea and Graham
This is Barney - the Beagle.
Barney was originally a purchased "item" from a local paper. Unfortunately the new owner's dog and he did not get on.
We saw things differently and found him the right home with the right company - Colin and his whole family.
THIS IS BENSON.
In between chew sticks, three walks a day, meals, sleeping and lots of love from Del, Kath and a house full of kids I don't suppose Benson knows what to do with himself any more!
DILLON
Dillon was an unwanted TWELVE year old!
Thanks to Friends of the Animals he now has a happy retirement with Robert and Shirley.
Thank you both for taking on this lovely dog.
This is SAM.

He has suffered badly following immersion in a caustic liquid.
He is virtually blind and needed a VERY special home - which is what he has got with ZOE.
He now runs over the local beach and park and is getting used to a large garden and plenty of affection.

This is LEO and CASS with ELLA SNOW & Daughter
LEO and CASS needed to be re-homed after their owner went into a nursing home. After several weeks of foster care ELLA and her husband (IVAN) took both dogs on and has given them a wonderful new life.
THIS IS BELLE.
No one bothered to tell BELLE that she was disabled ...... and she doesn't care. This little Jack Russell found the perfect home through Friends of the Animals with Eileen. Loved to bits and truly cared for this little dog certainly "landed on her feet".
Thanks to Eileen for taking on this special dog.
This is SPICE.
Spice and his owner were recently evicted and ended up living in a tent.
Full credit to his (then) owner who contacted us for assistance and we were able to move Spice into a temporary foster home prior to looking for a permanent home.
Within a very short space of time, Geoff (pictured) came to us wanting a dog. This turned out to be a perfect match as Geoff works in forests all day long and, guess what, Spice goes to!
I bet Spice has a great time every day.
This is BELLA. Her pensioner owner had a serious fall and broke her own arm, but worse still, she fell on BELLA and as a result BELLA suffered serious ligament damage to her back rear leg. To compound the problems, the owner could not drive and was not financially well off. Fortunately she contacted us for help. Dave, one of our team of drivers has been able to take BELLA to and from the vets and after much treatment, including Xrays, anti inflamatories etc etc, BELLA is on the mend - as is her owner.
ALFIE.
Previous visitors to our site, only days ago will recall ALFIE being available to rehome. Well, I have to say how sorry we are if anyone else wants him, ..... because as you can see, this is another of our success stories.
The right dog with the right person.

I will quote from an email received regarding these two munches:-
"When they came into (Bearwood) they were saturated as if they'd been sitting in dirty litter trays for weeks and the smell overpowered the whole shop. They are long haired so their tails and back ends were dirty and matted. They have now been cleaned and bathed and Becky (1) has arranged a new home for them."
Very well done to Becky (1) and absolute shame on the family that abandoned their pets in such a state.
SEVEN years ago Sylvia was looking for an older dog to care for.
She found Gwen, who has been a real friend and by her side ever since.
This is another very simple story of putting the right owner with the right dog and for everyone to be happy.
Thank you Sylvia
OSCAR and JOAN, a pair made in heaven.
People keep telling us its hard to home older dogs isn't it? NO, NO, NO.
We don't know where this idea comes from but it really is the mantra of the half hearted and the "easy way out" team.
Oscar was twelve years old and needed a new home, Joan wanted an older big dog - et voila - BINGO. Lets put the two together and we did.
Both have now got exactly what they want and both are very happy.
"I think I'm going to like it here ....."
Pippin is another dog that won't be moving again. This Jack Russell has the right home with the right person at the right time.
AND she will be a globe trotter with her new pet passport. Roll on the rest of the world!
These two little kittens were dumped one day - taken into our care and rehomed within hours.
Thank you to the new owner and well done to BECKY (1) for having such a well oiled and up to date "wants list".

This is Alfie and he was rehomed by the Charity a couple of years ago. He has since gone through his "Bronze Good Citizen Award" and goes to agility training every week. He has long walks every day and is "a gentle and good mannered boy".
His two favourite things are his ball and having a cuddle......
Sounds okay to me!
This little fella is Jamie. He is a real character and - as you can see is waiting for someone to throw his ball for him. He was rehomed by the Charity a few years ago and is now part of a six dog "pack" of which he THINKS he's the boss - but the little yorkie KNOWS that in fact SHE is the boss.
Just another success for all concerned.
These little souls - the kittens that is - were left outside a church in the Midlands on a VERY cold night. Fortunately they were spotted in their cardboard box and the Charity was able to pick them up and ensure they were properly cared for.
Tis not necessarily the season of good will to ALL creatures!
Its difficult to rehome older dogs ...isn't it? No, No, a thousand times NO. All that is needed is some effort and a co-ordinated team. ROLLY is a 15 year old Bitch that needed a new home. Within hours of getting the formal request to rehome her, she had been driven to Portsmouth, collected by Alan Barker one of our volunteers and was safely and snug in a new home.
These two felines had to be rehomed quickly when their owner was, unfortunately, evicted from her home.
We were asked to help and BECKY (1) was able to rehome them within hours because of her list of "wants".
If you want a pet please contact us so that your details can be added to our data base of wants. THEN, when the right pet comes along they get rehomed quickly and you get the pet that you've hoped for. I think its called WIN WIN.
These two little bundles of fluff were owned by a lovely lady and had been well cared for. Sadly the woman was diagnosed with a very virulent cancer and she was unable to keep them. She was worried for their future and wanted to be sure that they went to a good home. At Friends of the Animals we check homes very carefully, and the perfect home was found for them both with a gentleman nicknamed "Tinkerbell", a very kind and loving man.
They settled in very well and we received a lovely card from Tink at Christmas thanking us for making him so happy!
